MEET YOUR INTERNSHIP SUPERVISOR

6AC Senior Program Associate

Gabrielle Caron

Getting to work closely with law student interns is one of the most rewarding parts of working at 6AC. Not only is it empowering to witness firsthand how much our interns sharpen their legal and advocacy skills throughout the program, but it is also such an enriching experience for us staff. Law students bring new perspectives to our work and an unbridled curiosity for right to counsel issues. They push us to deepen our own understanding of these complex issues and help us think of novel solutions.

Thanks to our law student interns, we also get to become better informed experts in the field.

TESTIMONIALS

“I interned with the Sixth Amendment Center during my last semester of law school, when I was considering whether I could work within the American criminal legal system. My supervisors at 6AC encouraged me to ask important questions and share my perspectives regarding 6AC’s role in shaping policy and legislation. I finished the internship with a conviction that I wanted to serve as a public defender. And years later, my mentor from 6AC helped me realize that dream.”
Ambroise Decilap, University of Virginia School of Law
“My externship with the Sixth Amendment Center was highly rewarding. Working with the 6AC allowed me dig into the realities of indigent defense systems across the country and analyze how the constitutional right to counsel works in practice, while also contributing to research that actually impacts reform. It was an eye-opening experience with hands-on, meaningful work that you cannot get in a classroom.”
Claudia Ajluni, Boston College Law School
"I had a fantastic experience as a summer intern with 6AC. Even though everyone was working remotely, I got to talk 1:1 with everyone on the staff and made genuine connections with all my co-interns. Everyone was always happy to answer any questions that I had, and I learned so much about public defense and deepened my passion for criminal defense.”
Kira Pyne, The George Washington University Law School
"I interned with 6AC the summer after my 2L year. Throughout the summer, I was exposed to the breadth of 6AC's work--researching the state of the law, supporting ongoing evaluations, and learning about the right to counsel in all stages of a criminal proceeding. I regularly interacted with great mentors at all levels of the organization, many of whom have continued to support me through my career! The team's commitment to making real reform happen was inspiring and a dream to be a part of.”
Crystal Anderson, Boston University School of Law
